Teaser Tuesday #14

Hey book nerds! I’ve been procrastinating a little bit with this post but, I finally decided to log on and write it up. It’s been a bit of a busy day for me. I wrote my first exam EVER his morning, painted the front of a notebook, read, and listened to the “La La Land” soundtrack. The “La La Land” soundtrack is so amazing and I cannot get “City of Stars” out of my head. Can we get a Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone duet album. Like please?!?!

Anyways, in case you have never viewed my blog before, forget what this is, or have no clue what I’m even talking about, today is Tuesday. *face palms*, well duh, you all know that already. But, every Tuesday on my blog, I do a segment called Teaser Tuesday. Basically, I pick an excerpt from my current read (on or around my current page) and share it with you all. It’s an easy way to share my current reads with all of you!

“The trees rustled around them, and Luce noticed the faintest trickle of a shadow out of the corner of her eye. Not the sick, all-consuming swirl of blackness from the bar last night, but a warning. The shadow was keeping its distance, seething coldly around the corner, but it was waiting.” – page 351, Fallen by Lauren Kate

I’ve been reading Fallen for quite a while now and am enjoying it. With school and everything happening this past month, I haven’t had as much time to read so I have had very slow progress with this book. But, I will definitely be finishing this book later this week since I have it off.

Thank you so much for viewing my blog! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow!

Would You Rather Book Tag?

Hey everyone! I am currently suffering under a pile of study notes for my first exam tomorrow! I’m pretty scared for it but, I just cannot wait for it to be over. But, I found a bit of time to write a blog post and I’m really excited about it! I found this post a while ago on whogavethewrite‘s blog and I couldn’t wait to get it up. It’s such a cool concept for a book tag. So, with that all said and done, let’s get straight into today’s post!

This question is actually extremely hard for me to answer. I love both series and standalones but, I think I will have to go with series. Series have a lot of time to develop and diversify within 2 – … books. A series could be as many books in the same world as an author could possibly want. Meanwhile, a standalone has up to 800 pages to show it’s unique writing, characters and storyline.

This question shouldn’t be on here. A person’s choice of reading material shouldn’t depend on the author’s gender. Both genders can create similar books written through both male and female perspectives. For instance, Rick Yancey did a phenomenal job with Cassie’s character in The 5th Wave, while Sarah J. Maas does an amazing job with all o the hotties featured in her novels. But, if I had to choose for this question, I would pick female. Not strictly for the content of the book, but because there are more books written by females.

The sad thing is, I’ve never actually bought anything off of Amazon. I know, it is a waaaay cheaper option than always buying the $10 – $30 dollar books in store but, I just never end up doing it. Since I’m a Canadian, I will admit that I am a bit obsessed with going to Indigo/Chapters. Every time I go to the mall with my mom (hey mom!) we always go into the Starbucks within Chapters and I end up spending 20 minutes looking at all of the books.

TV SHOWS FOR THE WIN!! With a movie the directors can’t go too into detail with everything that happens throughout the novel/series. One of the only book to movie adaptations (besides Harry Potter) that ended up being phenomenal was If I Stay. It followed the book so well and included almost all of the details given in the book! But, for like long series, I think TV is best. The Shadowhunters series is going strong so far, Queen of Shadows will most likely be incredible and so many others are becoming TV shows too!

What the heck is this question? Of course, 5 books a week!! I’ve actually gone many days reading 5 or less pages of a book but, I never ended up feeling satisfied at the end of those days. But, being able to read 5 books a week would be PHENOMENAL! I can hardly get through 2 a week so it would be crazy if I could get through that many! And even, my TBR is over flowing.

Although it’s always been a huge dream of mine to become a professional author, I think I would prefer to be a professional book reviewer. It would be so cool to live a life of reading every possible book and then reviewing them. And if you got paid from that too, it’d be ten times better. And yes, I know that my writing isn’t that bad but sometimes I feel like I could never top Cassandra Clare’s or Sarah J. Maas’s writing.

Although I would miss reading about Daemon Black, I’m going to have to pick new releases. I currently do not have 20 favorite books, only a top 3. But, if I chose my top 20 favorite books, I would never get to read all of the wonderful new realeases that are coming out. And you guys would just get 20, 00o reviews on the same twenty books.

Definitely a bookseller. I have a huge dream that my first job will be at Chapters! But, I feel like a job at a book store would be so much more entertaining than one at a library. I’ve always found libraries a little too quite. So a bookstore is like my homeland. Where could you go wrong in a store filled with thousands of books, and coffee? No where.

Well, let’s just count YA as a whole genre and I’ll survive! I could possibly live without ever reading an adult book (maybe not..). But how could I give up YA!?! YA books are what let me express myself. I don’t even know what I would do without them.

I absolutely love physical books. Whether it’s a paperback or hardback, I don’t care. I just love being able to put my finger on the edge of the pages and flip through all of them. Sniffing that fresh and ancient smell of books. But there isn’t anything I love more than when the pure white pages start to fade into a yellow tone. They are beautiful!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and reading this post! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow for more posts!

Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)INFORMATION:

Title/Author: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Series: Hush, Hush #1

Publisher: Simon & Schuster BFYR

Release Date: October 13, 2009

ISBN: 9781416989417

Page Count: 391

Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

This book was on my TBR for such a long time before I actually got to reading it. That’s for two reasons:

  1. People have been criticizing this book for the longest time about it being too much alike Twilight. And I’ll be clear to start this review off, although it is a lot like Twilight, it’s alike it in a good way. A lot of YA literature is either created to mock Twilight or has taken a lot of resource off of it. Even one of my favorite series, Lux, has a lot of resemblance to Twilight. But every book is unique in their own way. And in some ways, Hush, Hush was nothing like Twilight
  2. Cliché 101: A lot of paranormal YA these days are VERY cliché. And although, I do love myself a good cliché and paranormal book, sometimes reviewers make it sound a bit too cliché. But, I’m always up for a book about fallen angels so I couldn’t help but read it!

But even with all of that said, I couldn’t be any happier that I read this book! It was the perfect mix of Twilight themed moments, fallen angel scariness, and the name Patch. If you love paranormal books, this one is perfect for you!

One of my favorite things about this book were the characters! I absolutely loved how Becca made all of the characters different from your typical YA novel. Usually, we read about the skinny main character with straight/wavy hair that attracts the bad boy. But, in Hush, Hush, the main character has flaws that make her unique and beautiful. Nora Grey has beautiful, long curly hair which isn’t found too often in YA. And her best friend, (who’s name I am currently blanking on) has a curvier build. Basically any time an author takes a risk and makes their characters different, I will love them.

So as I already talked about a lot, this book has a lot of relation to Twilight. And that seems to be one of the main reasons people end up disliking this book. Even I was warned by one of my friends. But, if you keep the thought of Twilight out of your mind, you lose thought of the whole relation between the books. Of course, there was stalker 101 books but there weren’t any Edward Cullens or vampires.

I actually plan on continuing this series super soon. I loved Hush, Hush a lot and cannot wait to dive back into Patch and Nora’s story! Hopefully soon too.

If you haven’t picked this book up yet, I suggest you at least try it. It’d be super cool if you guys could join all of the mixed reviews people have on books. But, in case you need a bit more insisting, this book was a quick, I-don’t-want-to-let-go-of-the-story for me.

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my post! I hope you enjoyed it. Don’t forget to like, comment and follow my blog.

My Dream Crate!

Hey book nerds! I was recently contacted by Loot Crate to create my own personalized “Dream Crate”. I was so excited when they contacted me about this since I’ve been a huge fan of Loot Crate for a long time now. Basically, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box that features 4 – 6 nerdy items at an affordable price. They are always super creative and unique with the items and themes for their boxes every month!

A “Dream Crate” is a unique take on a Loot Crate box. You put together a bunch of items under a certain theme and create your very own Loot Crate box. There is no specific number of items/price when creating one. You just have to be yourself! So now, without further ado, let’s get straight into this!

Well, I think this is pretty obvious but, I would definitely have to go with a theme of books! Books are my whole life and I really don’t know what I would do without them. So, I couldn’t help but use it as my theme. In my “Dream Crate”, I will be featuring bookish items from around the internet! Keep in mind that there will be A LOT of items featured and they will NOT all fit in one Loot Crate box. Maybe a couple!

Just Read – White Throw Pillow: Society 6

I am obsessed with all of Evie’s works that are posted on Society 6 but this one in particular always catches my eye! It’s very simple compared to a lot of her other works. And, I am really loving calligraphy at the moment so this would be perfect!

Bibliophile Tee: The Twirlings

I absolutely love all of the apparel that “The Twirlings” sell! One of the co-owners, Alexandra Ling connects to the book community on such a high level. So rest assured, their products, especially this one, are perfect for any book-obsessed nerds out there.

Empire Of Storms Sampler Candles: The Melting Library

I love bookish candles and the fact that people can use their imaginations to create realistic fictional candles. I’ve been told that they almost always smell exactly like the label! So, since I couldn’t just pick one, I decided to pick the whole sampler set from “The Melting Library”. And even, Empire of Storms has been one of my favorite books of 2017 so far!

Throne of glass Bookmark // You Could Rattle The StarsITEM FOUR:

Throne of Glass Bookmark – You Could Rattle The Stars: Lexy Olivia

For anyone who didn’t know, this specific quote is my favorite book quote! I just love it so much. I’ve seen Lexy Olivia’s works all over bookstagram and couldn’t help but add one to here. She is a wizard with watercolours and creates beautiful artwork!

You know, a reader can’t help but have a beautiful mug as a prop for all of those weekly current reads posts. I think you all can tell by now that I really love Evie’s works. They are all so beautiful and some are even as simple as this one! Others have beautifully intricate artwork and quotes on them!

A History of Notable ShadowhuntersITEM NINE:

A History Of Notable Shadowhunters & Denizens Of Downworld: Told In The Language Of Flowers by Cassandra Clare and Cassandra Jean

I’ve been eyeing this book for the longest time now and I think it is perfect for all readers. It features drawings and short bios of all of the characters featured in Cassie Clare’s shadow world! This book is the perfect thing for all fans of her series. It would even be super cool to rip some of the pages out (of your favorite characters, of course) and place them on your walls!

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading this post! I am over the moon that Loot Crate contacted me and wanted me to do this! Be sure to post your own Dream Crate’s on your blogs if you liked this! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow my blog if you haven’t already!

A Little Update.

Hey book nerds! I am so sorry I have been super inactive recently. I’ve been trying to catch up on school work and study for exams. But to be completely honest, I miss writing on here, and reading 24/7 and even just sitting in classes and scrolling through my phone endlessly. School hits hard in exam (finals) season. But, here I am, sitting in class writing up a little life update because I cannot focus on my work.

  1. Dreaded School: If anyone dreads school the most in the whole world at the moment, it’s me. Next week I have my first exams and I have definitely not prepared myself for them. As I said above, I also have so many final projects and studying to get done. I hate how teachers enjoy watching us finish our work in record timing. It’s almost as if they want us to fail so they can teach us the whole class again. Ugh. I only have 3 full days of school left and 2 exams the week after. Let’s hope I survive. And you betcha I’ll be back on the second with a super long post for all of you.
  2. I’ve been spending all of my free time either studying, reading or watching YouTube. This past week has fully consisted of super late nights (1 am or 2 am) where I just can’t sleep. Then I’ll end up watching YouTube or reading until I fall asleep, and OH-MY-GOD it’s addicting. And then I’ll wake up at about 7 in the morning and look like the walking dead. But to let you all know, I have been reading while hiding in my little hole. I am currently reading Fallen by Lauren Kate and I am loving it! I absolutely love both Luce and Daniel and I don’t think I will ever dislike paranormal YA.
  3. Hamilton is my new love: I never really used to like Hamilton. I listened to a few of the popular songs every once in a while, but never really knew what all the rave around the musical was. But, the other night while I was studying, I decided to play the soundtrack in the background and became addicted. I ended up searching up everything there is to know about the musical and the characters! I am absolutely in love with everything there is to know about the American Revolution too. Soooo, I’m pretty sure I’m in a phase of learning all of the song lyrics. BUT JUST YOU WAIT!

So that’s it for today’s little (unedited) rant while I procrastinate working in class. yay. I plan to try to post on every second day until the second so, stay tuned for new posts! Don’t forget to press the like and share buttons, comment below and follow my blog!

REVIEW: City Of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Hey Book Nerds! Alaina here, and I am so overly excited for today’s post. I recently finished the beautiful finale to The Mortal instruments and holy, it did not disappoint! I was so into this book, and just couldn’t take my eyes off of it. And yes, I know I haven’t posted my City of Lost Souls review yet, but I couldn’t wait to get this one up! So now without further ado, let’s get straight into this review!

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)INFORMATION:

Title/Author: City Of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Series: The Mortal Instruments (#6)

Release Date: May 27, 2014

Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry

Page Count: 725

ISBN: 9781481426305

In this dazzling and long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary’s own brother.

Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Infernal Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures out of nightmare, tearing apart families and lovers as the ranks of his Endarkened army swell.

The embattled Shadowhunters withdraw to Idris – but not even the famed demon towers of Alicante can keep Sebastian at bay. And with the Nephilim trapped in Idris, who will guard the world against demons?

When one of the greatest betrayals the Nephilim have ever known is revealed, Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec must flee – even if their journey takes them deep into the demon realms, where no Shadowhunter has set foot before, and from which no human being has ever returned…

Love will be sacrificed and lives lost in the terrible battle for the fate of the word in the thrilling final installment of the classic urban fantasy series The Mortal Instruments!

I don’t know how but, Cassandra Clare does not fail to disappoint in ANY of her books. Each one is fantastic in it’s own unique way. Yes, even the ones within six book series. Kind of insane, right.

But anyways, this book blew my mind away. Most of the books before this one, I wasn’t really “into”. I don’t know why but, I sort of have a love hate relationship with every other book in the series. But this one…. there aren’t enough words in the English language to describe my feelings for it. It was heartbreaking, gleaming with joy and filled with swoony male characters. Yes, even Sebastian is swoony, even if he was evil.

One of my favorite things about this novel was all of the characters! Of course, we still ventured with the main crew: Clary, Jace, Izzy, Simon, Magnus and Alec. But, we also had so many NEW characters. Or at least new to the TMI series. Out of all of the new characters, my favorites would definitely have to be EMMA AND JULIAN. They were super cute and badass for twelve years old and I just couldn’t believe how brave they were. Emma would do anything to save the people she loves, alike the strength we saw Clary build up throughout the series. I also really loved Julian’s family, the Blackthorns. Although some of them were turned before we could even get to know them, I still loved reading about the others: Tavvy, Ty, Livia and Dru. They were all such a cute family. Now last but definitely not least, Tessa Gray and Jem Carstairs? That is who Brother Zachariah was all along right? I hope because although I don’t know if I’ll be a #JEMMA or #WESSA shipper while reading The Infernal Devices (I know it is a shame I haven’t already) I definitely cannot wait to explore more with both characters!

Now, I think I was probably the only person in the whole universe who read this book and absolutely loved Sebastian. Or maybe it was more of a feeling of pity towards him. Because, if you think about his character without all of the gross demon blood inside him, he would’ve been good; he would’ve been as good of a shadowhunter as Jace. He could’ve been such a strong and powerful character if Valentine didn’t do what he actually did. And basically that led us to the Endarkened.

The Endarkened shadowhunters were such an interesting villain band in my opinion. Instead of it being Valentine vs. All in City of Glass it was “Sebastian and his Endarkened” vs All. But, seeing all of the shadowhunters’ loved ones turn into Sebastian’s evil army also tore me to pieces. Amatis for instance, was such an amazing character in City of Glass but then she got turned and became this evil that had to die. HAD TO. Sort of the same thing happened with Mark Blackthorn, though he was forced to join “The Wild Hunt”. I really wished that we got to see more of Mark Blackthorn, but I guess it is what it is.

Overall, this book was amazing. I was so into it that I couldn’t take my eyes off it all four days it took for me to read it. I loved all of the new and old parts of the shadow world that Cassie incorporated to make this beautiful novel. And with that said, I can’t help but give it five stars!

That’s it for today book nerds! I hope you all enjoyed it and come back for more. Don’t forget to like, comment and follow my blog!

Teaser Tuesday #13!

Hey book worms! Alaina here, and I am doing another Teaser Tuesday. AKA, my favorite posts. I don’t even really know why I like these posts so much, I just do!

In case you are new to my blog, Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish segment that I do here. Basically, I share a non-spoiler excerpt/quote from my current read, and talk about my overall current feelings for the book. Whether I’m loving it, or hating it and what I would currently rate it. I hope you all enjoy!

When I got to Patch’s console, I tapped a hand against the side of it to get his attention. In the calmest voice I could manage, I said, “Pac-Man? Or is it Donkey Kong?” In truth, it looked a little more violent and military. A slow grin spread over his face. “Baseball. Think maybe you could stand behind me and give me a few pointers?” Firebombs erupted on the screen, and screaming bodiessailed through the air. Obviously not baseball.

Page 102 of Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

I haven’t had much time to read recently because of school. *sigh*. But, I have been able to read just above 100 pages in my current read since school started back up on Monday. But, I’ll probably try to balance my time between studying for my exams and reading!

I actually just got this book for Christmas, which is very surprising because I don’t think I’ve ever dived into my Christmas books as quick as I did this year. Hush, Hush is my 3rd Christmas book and I am really hoping it doesn’t disappoint because I am really enjoying it so far. If you want to know more about the book, read below:

This book is super swoony, with a slight creepiness to it, which I am really loving! Paranormal is my favorite genre so I already know that this book will be good. But, sadly I have heard that it is extremely similar to Twilight, and although I love Twilight, I don’t know if I’ll enjoy a knock-off book. But so far (luckily) it isn’t too close to Twilight.

I’m really enjoying the cast of characters in this book so far. Nora, Patch, Vee, Jules and Elliot are all super cool and I cannot wait to see what happens with them. Especially Mr. Swoon, Patch.

So far, I would probably rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. It hasn’t had any disappointment yet but I don’t think it fully deserves 5 stars.

Well, that’s it for today! I hoe you all enjoyed this post. Don’t forget to like and comment if you did!

Happy Reading!

REVIEW: Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

It’s only been a few days since I finished this book and I still haven’t recovered. This book split me a part and ripped everything out of me. It made me shed buckets of tears. And I don’t know if I will ever be better….

Hey book nerds! It’s Alaina and as you read above, I recently finished the wonderful glory of Empire of Storms, the 5th installment of the Throne of Glass series. And boy oh boy, this book went way above my standards.

Before I begin, I will let you all know that this will be both a spoiler and spoiler-free review. it will be separated in half so that those who haven’t read the series or haven’t quite reached book 5 can still enjoy the review.

Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)INFORMATION:

Title/Author: Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Series: Throne of Glass (#5)

Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Childrens

Release Date: September 6, 2016

Page Count: 693

ISBN: 9781619636071

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don’t.

As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

Aelin’s journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?

For starters, if you haven’t picked up Throne of Glass yet, what are you doing with your life? Although it’s not that great of a book, Sarah’s writing improves over the series and you will not want to miss it.

Basically, as some of you may already know, the Throne of Glass series follows a young female by the name of Celaena Sardothien as she struggles to save her kingdom. She lived a rough past but has finally come back to retrieve her throne, only to be caught up in many difficult obstructions. That’s probably the easiest thing to explain the series.

But holy, this book was everything you could ever want in a fantasy book: badass heroines kicking butt, swoony romance and handsome fae. What more could you want? And although this book was super close to 700 pages, it felt like I just breezed straight through it! From all of the violent fights and sexy romance, I found that time flew by so fast and before I knew it, I was finished.

There are also some kick-butt characters in this series including Celaena Sardothien (an assassin with a rough childhood), Aelin Galathynius (the lost heir of Terrasen), Rowan Whitethorn (BAAEEEEE), Lysandra (the shape shifting heroine of EOS) and Dorian Havilliard (the *cough* prince of Adarlan). And more and more keep coming into the series!

That’s it for the non-spoiler section! I hoped you liked it and decide to pick up either the series or this book in the future because, it’s as badass as badass gets! Don’t forget to like comment and follow. Now, on to spoiler joy!

Well, I guess we should start with the beginning before I get to that…. speechless ending (devastating, heartbreaking? There are too many words for it). But, I have to say, that prologue was the beginning of the heart shattering for me. I absolutely loved how Sarah gave us a flashback to Elena and Gavin’s time. I always found the series “past” (like before it began) very interesting and I was overjoyed when I started reading that prologue. From all of the other books, we only ever got to see Elena in the little room behind the room Celaena was staying in at the castle…..THE TOMB! I almost forgot what it was called. But anyways, since I got this book for Christmas, I started reading it on the way home from my grandparents, and I was ON THE VERGE OF TEARS. Like actually.

I loved how Elide was such a huge part of this novel. Wasn’t the first chapter her? I think. And through the novel I became such a huge #elorcan/#loride shipper. ELIDE AND LORCAN WERE THE CUTEST. Well, aside from that cruel ending. But they should’ve married or something. Even their names were similar: Elide Lochan, Lorcan Salvaterre. I thought it was the cutest that Sarah J. Maas made their names like that. It was probably a mistake but, it was the best mistake ever.

There is only one word that I can think of to describe this series and that is: ROWAELIN. If you don’t like them together, I don’t know if I can handle talking to you. Just kidding, I love talking to all of you. But, I was over the moon when I first learned that we were going to get a steamy Rowaelin scene in this novel, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. And that scene where Rowan and Aelin shared there magic powers was BOMB.COM. Ahhh, I could probably obsess over these two forever, but I think I should move on.

Can I just say, Lysandra killed it in this novel. She should win an award for most badass shape-shifter ever. She even beats Rowan. And her and Aedion were the cutest! All of their scenes together (except the ending, of course) were amazing. I just wanted them to get married or something and make possible shape-shifter babies!

The storyline of this book had to be one of my favorites out of the whole series. I loved how strong and bold Aelin and her court were throughout the novel. They were so determined to find a way to reclaim Terrasen and even though they had some dark times (*cough cough* ending), they always came back and brought more forces together. And nobody knows how much I love their court, even though Chaol wasn’t in this. Yeah, where the heck was Chaol in this novel. I kept praying that at some point we would get to see how Chaol and Nesryn were doing but, that never happened.

Since I think I’ve ranted about this book enough I’m going to end it off by saying: this book will send you to a sobbing wreck. It will make you cry, laugh and put the biggest smiles and frowns on your face. It is a must read for all fans of the Throne of Glass series!

I hope you all enjoyed my review! Have any of you read the Throne of Glass series? Leave your thoughts below! Don’t forget to like and comment.

Happy Reading!

It should be no surprise that this is my current read! I’ve been ranting about it all over my bookstagram. In case you don’t know what happens, or have never heard ofthis book, it is the fifth installment in Sarah’s (incredible, sensational) series, Throne of Glass. Below is the synopsis if you are interested!

Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)I have been enjoying every single second of this novel! And it is even more fun to read knowing that one of my best bookish friends, Emily (from WhoGaveTheWrite) is right behind me in this series. It’s so much fun having someone to talk about this series with!

Also, I have got to say, my view on the characters in this novel has changed so much! I used to hate Manon with a fiery passion but, she’s recently become one of my favorites! But the big question of the whole book is where is Chaol? Can I hope to see him at the end?

I hope you enjoyed today’s Teaser Tuesday and come back next Tuesday for another Teaser Tuesday!

Happy Reading!

The Coffee Book Tag!

Hey everyone! For today’s post I decided to do yet again, ANOTHER BOOK TAG. No surprise there, huh. Well actually, I was talking with Emily over at WhoGaveTheWrite and she really wanted me to do a tag which was a super good idea! I was in the mood to blog but, didn’t want to write up a whole review for a book. Maybe tomorrow.

So in my search for a book tag to do, I came across the coffee book tag which is such a perfect tag! I have recently grown a slight obsession with coffee, so when I saw this I just knew I had to do it! This tag was originally created by BangadyBangz and I tag all of YOU to keep this tag going! Hope you enjoy.

I think I’m actually going to pick one of my favorite series of all-time for this one. The Throne of Glass series is highly raved by readers around the world but, I thought the first book in the series, Throne of Glass was terrible. Well not like super terrible. But the majority of the book stayed in the 2.5 – 3 star range, which isn’t too good on my scale. But the ending concluded the book so fiercely that I couldn’t help but end up giving it a better review. But although I didn’t fully enjoy the first book, the rest of the series is AMAZING! A serious must read for all!

Definitely Harry Potter! I haven’t actually finished this series but from what I’ve heard, A LOT of people do rereads of this series in the winter months. Maybe it’s just a warming series to read in the winter, or most of the series takes place in the winter months. I don’t really know, but Winter seems to be the time to read Harry Potter! So, if you are wanting to read the Harry Potter series, from what I’ve heard, you should all read it in the winter months. And I just said that even though I plan to finish the series throughout 2017.

I actually wasn’t a big reader when I was younger. I would read those short books that we would read in school, and every so often I would take books out of the library. But, I wasn’t one of those kids who grew up reading Harry Potter…..I’m still getting to those. But, two of my favorite series growing up were the Junie B. Jones books and The Magic Tree House series! The Junie B. Jones books were funny and witty short novels about a young girl named Junie B. Jones, where we basically followed her life. While on the other hand, The Magic Tree House books were children fantasy novels that followed two friends, Jack and Annie, as they travel through a tree house into fantasy worlds! I was addicted to both of those series as a kid, since I was very intimidated by big books with size 11 font then.

There are literally soooooo many books I can choose for this. But, I think I’m going to choose Heir of Fire, the third installment of the Throne of Glass series. I was so in love with this novel and couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next as I flipped through the pages. Basically, this book takes place a little differently than the first two books. Instead of taking place in Adarlan, we got to venture to the fae island of Wendlyn! We got to meet so many new charcaters in this book too, including Rowan (aka Baeeeee) and Manon!

Who came up with this question. My life is all books so basically every corner I turn, I see a book. Hmmm, maybe that’s just because I carry books around everywhere. But a few books I’ve been seeing around recently are: Crooked Kingdom (and generally all of Leigh Bardugo’s books), The Star-Touched Queen, the ACOTAR series (when is this not popular?), and all of V. E. Schwab’s books. I’m not quite caught up in popular books/series 101 but, in all of that list, I’ve read one half of the ACOTAR series. But, I’m definitely getting to the rest!

This is super hard for me to answer because I don’t really read from indie authors. But, through bookstagram I have come to find a community of people who aspire to write books! One of which is Blaire Hammond who wrote The Enchantress, which I think is a high fantasy novel. I haven’t actually read it but, she was the first person who came to mind for this question so I thought I’d give her a shoutout! (P.S. she is published by someone but, not by a big publishing company)

One book that I was definitely expecting more from has to be Wicked by Sara Shepard. Back in 2015 when I started getting into YA, I was addicted to the Pretty Little Liars series. I used to read the books, and watch the TV show. And once I hit the fifth book, Wicked, I was so excited to see what was next in A’s huge plan. But, I was greatly disappointed with this novel. I think I ended up giving it 2.5 stars. Compared to the first four books in the series, this one was super boring. And since I read this book, I haven’t picked up any more books in the series.

Everyone should know what I’m picking for this: Twilight. I am a TWIHARD for life! It was one of the first YA series that I completed and god was it satisfying. There were many parts in this series that I hated, and many parts that had the opposite effect on me. But, by the time you finish the big, fat beauty of Breaking Dawn, the most satisfying feeling ever. It’s not an ending like the Lux series or how I predict TOG #6 to end but, it is a happy and joyful ending that will satisfy you to the core!

I hope you all enjoyed this tag because it was so much fun to write. And also because coffee and books are such a perfect pairing. Who doesn’t love to sit in a coffee shop and read? I’m pretty sure that’s why big name bookstores started putting coffee shops inside their stores. Hahaha. Anyways, I hope you have a good day, and don’t forget to stay tuned for tomorrow’s Teaser Tuesday!

Happy Reading!
